Ashe Country is an extraordinary place to shop. Many very talented artists have made Ashe Country their home and you'll find their work displayed in galleries throughout the West Jefferson Arts District. We are the little town with the giant painted murals, making it a unique place like no other.
Come spend the day shopping and browsing, you'll find irresistible gift, gallery and specialty shops all up and down the streets. And be sure to stop into one of our great little owner-operated Restaurants and Coffee Shops when you get tired and hungry.
We have Quilt Shops, Book Stores, Gift Emporiums, Antique Malls, Clothing Stores, Outfitters, and a Cheese Factory – the only one in North Carolina.
Glendale Springs is another little enclave in the county with gift shops and the Holy Trinity Episcopal Church which houses Ben Long's famous Frescoes. There are also good places to eat and stay in Glendale Springs.
Ashe County Wine and Wineries are another way to experience and taste our region.
